2 lessons that I teach & practice: (1) Visualization ~ Walking across the stage (2) Self-Fulfilling Prophecy ~ Taking the steps toward reaching this goal
Shift Dress (more forgiving / less flattering straight silhouette) in Coral (to suit my stylist Dr. Garza‘s taste): Spaghetti Strap Slip underneath Crocheted Lace Overlay * Skater Dress (more figure-framing A-line short skirt) in Mint (close enough to fulfill my Tiffany blue obsession): Strapless Slip layered under Sleeveless Scoopneck Sparkly Silver Lurex Fishnet
A few weeks ago, I celebrated the †Corpus Christi (Most Precious Body and Blood)† at my family’s Church, where our *Deacon’s homily prompted this post in which I’ll paraphrase his proclamation.
Deacon Dan’s Communion Checklist
Fall in line and remain in reverence ~ this is not a social gathering where we’re here to see what everybody’s wearing
Look at the host ~ don’t look away, as we’re receiving this Sacrament
Stay for the rest of the Mass ~ it’s not time for us to leave just to beat traffic
While these may seem like simple steps, the Deacon pointed out how some don’t put them into practice yet must be in play out of RESPECT.
One more rule of thumb: we must have a clear conscience when we receive Holy Communion ~ so regular confession is key.
When my Tito’s daughter/my oldest cousin, Melissa, got married (exactly 12 years and two months ago today and exactly two weeks after I graduated from McMurry), I spent the ☼morning☼ of her nuptials running in the Maryland rain!
Wayback Wednesday: I can’t believe that back then, I thought that ruching made me look fat ~ it looks fab! #PrettyInPink
Those were the days when I didn’t have to ~ as Milli Vanilli (whose ½ of the duo would’ve turned the BiG 5-0 almost three weeks ago) would ♪sing♪ (or lip-sync) ~ ♫Blame It On the Rain♫ … BEFORE my crazy cold after I chilled on the chili Corpus Christi beach during my business trip.
Even though I myself am NOT a bride, that isn’t stopping me from wanting to stay in shape during wedding season, and most of all, when I defend my dissertation and graduate this fall. Check out my fave fit babes‘ workouts to get wedding-ready for those of you who are about to walk down the aisle or have another important upcoming event:
She’s still as beautiful as can be and has sustained the pain beyond the rain, from sleet and snow to hurricanes and hail storms, without damage (knock on wood ~ as in my luxury wood dash trim interior)!
“It’s got 4-wheel drive, dual-side air bags & a monster [hit high-pitch] ♪sound♫ system!” ~ Alicia Silverstone as Cher on Clueless {mine makes the last 2-out-of-3}
Although we’re freshly into ☼summer☼, I tend to think ahead …
While I’ve already planned what to wear on my BiG day right down to my footwear (yet still debatable), I’m wondering about plaid since it’ll be the look of next season.
I already know that I can *rock out*plaid! Just what the future Doctor ordered: these Doc Martens! {FYI: I have my phone screen shot for a reason ~ to show that I maintain Airplane Mode to prevent distractions during my study}
Perhaps I can go with one of these trendsetting patterns for my graduation photos that I’ll send with my announcements. Come to think of it, I really am treating this like I’m tying the knot! Here are similarities:
Writing Dissertation (way longer to write and present)
Writing Wedding Vows (shorter to present)
Walking Across the Stage
Walking Down the Aisle
Getting Hooded
Getting Hitched

* Bearing in mind that I’m picking out how to dress for this milestone, I’m deciding between something stylish or timeless. Someday, as I flip through my Ph.D. grad pics to reminisce or show them to future generations, I must look put-together and NOT like a hot mess! ~ I definitely don’t want to reflect back and think
Despite the serious nature of my study and my own detail-orientation of my appearance for my final presentation, I can’t help but find fun in everything to lift my spirits, including with this clip:
Now I have my Monday* and Thursday** evenings booked (to briefly break from my doctoral data and grading) to catch my guilty pleasures! My mom and I actually have one in common: Mistresses ~ and we both miss Alyssa Milano
Bestie Evie seriously went all out during her birthday cake for our last day of R.E.
Evie’s Raspberry (Non-Rum) Cake: Evie took a twist on her Rum Cake recipe for our last day of R.E. ~ for the sake of our kiddos, she omitted the rum, & for the sake of 1, she made it gluten-FREE, & for the sake of flavor, she went happy on these raspberries! Both easy on the eyes & tasty on the lips (+ my share surely went to my hips#DISPObustAFlow)!
I took this to a smaller scale for my study snack on the day I ran my stats
Blueberries are our friends … I’ve heard that slogan on a commercial back in the day, and it holds true to this day! Excellent for the memory ~ so wonderful timing on this stats day!
Of course, I also must add to the mix
#BatterUp for my #TriplePlay #parfait (from #BottomOfThe9th on up): #1stBase #GrahamCrackers #WhiteChocolateMousse + #2ndBase #AlmondJoy #almonds #coconut • #SaltedCaramel + #3rdBase #Oreos #raspberries #CandyCoatedPretzels #Espresso = #9innings for my #winnings #score #DISPObustAFlow #DISPOsAlwaysFly #FoodieFriday (actually had during Thursday #tStorm) #FroYo #YOLO #NikkisSwirlShoppe #SwirlShoppe #SpoonHappy #LayersOfFlavors ⚾️🍦🍧🍨🌰🍫🍪🍒🍓☕️👊🏽⚡️☔️💦🌈🌴 @swirlshoppe
