While trick-or-treaters may be house-hopping and candy-popping this weekend, I’ll continue consuming my healthy supplements on the ☼daily!

  • I’ve come a long way since my childhood Flinstones chewables ~ which I doubt are the best bet for my teeth with the acidity
  • I’m still not a fan of swallowing tablets without having water and food in handy
  • Therefore, I’m all about double-duty of fulfilling my ☼daily☼ needs while freshening my breath!

Of course, I don’t skimp on the actual food that I need to fuel my brain and body ~ which I’m actually including in an analogy between my marathon and my main statistical method (multiple regression) for my doc research!

Study Mode Trail Mix: Since almonds helped my bod during my 26.2-mi. course and my mind through my dissertation process, they were the main feature of this snack combo for the crunch + the Pumpkin Spice flavor along with the pumpkin cookies & candy, as well as more chocolate to cover these Brookside blueberries that also benefit the memory!

During my dedicated eating time (yes, I must make a meal break away from my computer, according to my Bestie Evie‘s birthday advice), I actually HIIT before I sit!

While I wait for my chow to cook ~ simmering in the crock pot, boiling on the stove, or nooking in the oven/microwave/toaster ~ I do the following quick set(s), to induce more calorie-burning even after I’m done exercising:

When my Tito’s daughter/my oldest cousin, Melissa, got married (exactly 12 years and two months ago today and exactly two weeks after I graduated from McMurry), I spent the ☼morning☼ of her nuptials running in the Maryland rain!

Those  were the days when I didn’t have to ~ as Milli Vanilli (whose ½ of the duo would’ve turned the BiG 5-0 almost three weeks ago) would ♪sing♪ (or lip-sync) ~ ♫Blame It On the Rain♫ … BEFORE my crazy cold after I chilled on the chili Corpus Christi beach during my business trip.

Even though I myself am NOT a bride, that isn’t stopping me from wanting to stay in shape during wedding season, and most of all, when I defend my dissertation and graduate this fall. ♪These heels weren’t made for running…♫ Would you be caught in the Jurassic age sprinting in (a) platforms (east & west) or (b) stilettos (north & south)? Gotta ♥love♥ my glitz & glam collection of shiny spikes

That’s exactly what Bryce Dallas Howard did in Jurassic World ~ which hit box office record-high revenues in its debut weekend ~ as her character, Claire, ran amidst dinosaurs.

This bombshell daughter of Happy Days actor and Oscar-winning director Ron Howard shows us that not only can she rock out nude pumps (one of my recent footwear options for my dissertation defense), she can race in them as well! Here’s more Heel Hype

  • On The Late Late Show, the Howard junior’s cast mate, Chris Pratt, mocked her in his own run-in-heels rendition
  • On Inside Edition, one of the hosts did a series of ankle-strengthening exercises to boost her own potential stiletto-sprinting training:

Lunges are essential.

Calf raises also help.

While skinny heels aren’t particularly my first choice to login miles (obviously, those and platforms aren’t the most practical), some of us runners and good-cause advocates may have raced in them to raise funds for awareness and research.

[Sidestep note: I’m probably one of the only people into pop culture who still hasn’t seen it yet could’ve with my Jurassic fan Bestie ~ but am predisposed with my research now]

Happy April Fools’ Day! Rather than joke and be broke (can’t quit my day job), how about I share the wealth of health?

While styling your hair, you might as well knock multiple birds ~ or in this case, leg muscles ~ with one stone and be bad to the bone* and rock solid!

10-20 reps while you heat-dry or iron each section:

  • squats (alternate sets of narrow, wide, plié)
  • lunges (sets of the same leg, then switch)
  • glute lifts (alternate between each leg)
  • knee raises (alternate between each leg)
  • thigh raises (sets of the same leg then switch)
  • calf raises (both legs at the same time)

Your thighs look like sweet potato pies!

This jam makes me want to dance ~ so now I can get my ♥cardio♥ on!

To me, shopping can be a necessary evil …

Unless I can turn it into a positive experience!

Imagine pushing this giant cart around! I saw this after my venture to Farmers Market. Then I got creative with the pumpkins that I picked from both…

As †CHRISTmas/HOLYday† shopping draws to a close, here are ways we can benefit ~ by burning both our wallets and calories at the same time:

  • Cart Press ~ Low Impact (Chest and ♥Cardio♥): Push your cart to work your chest and briskly walk around for ♥cardio♥ on the store floor
  • Curl with Both Arms (Biceps): Lift heavy object (i.e., box of soda cans below*) up for a few repetitions at a time; I recommend 10-12
  • Single-Arm Curl (Biceps): Lift light object (i.e., bottle below*) up for a several repetitions per arm; I recommend 15-20
  • Cart Lunges (Thighs): While standing at an aisle and leaning onto the cart handle, step back and drop your knee, one leg at a time
  • Cart Calf Raises (Calves): While waiting at the checkout line and holding onto the cart handle, step on your tippie toes then rock to your ankles for your calves
  • Cart Press ~ High Impact (Chest and ♥Cardio♥): After you unload your groceries, push your cart to work your chest again and run to park it for more ♥cardio♥!

We were Good Girls this year on Santa‘s List of Nice ~ checking it twice!!

The scene when The Grinch was propped up like a cobra on a ❄️cliff⛄️ at the climax about to crash CHRISTmas🎄 inspired these moves.

On your mats … Get set … Go!

Full Grinch (like Cobra) 🐍 On your belly with legs and toes down, raise your torso with palms down, shoulders back and chest out for 30sec-1min.

Cinch Grinch (like Leap Frog/Burpee) 🐸 From previous position, push yourself up with hands, then jump to your feet. 👣

Ru-dog Rave (like Bunny Hop) 🐰 Just like Grinch’s canine companion who was his Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer sidekick, hold your arms up and hop around!

Inch Grinch (like Inch Worm) 🐛 Just like Grinch’s creeping, you’ll walk on your palms🙌 and toes!

Raise the Sleigh (Shoulder Raise) 💪 Lift something really heavy🎁 (but not to the point of risking your joints) in your arms ~ leading with your knees, NOT your back, then lift overhead!

Cindy Lou Snow Angels (Wave) 👱 Cool down by lying on your back starting with your arms and legs spread out, then bring them together, then wave them out for several reps to loosen up those muscles (just what Martha Way Whovier loved about The Grinch) from the burn through ROAST BEAST MODE!!!
