With last weekend being full of festivities, we were in great food and company! My LMT girl Lisa and her hubby hosted Fight Night (UFC main event: Anderson Silva post-2013 leg injury) on Super Bowl Sunday Eve! Then I watched the Big Game with my Papa Jun!
The commonalities between both meals were:
- pizza (Little Caesar’s & Pizza Hut)
- dip (Ranch & Nutella)
- oodles of noodles (post-fight & pre-game)
- veggies (fresh & roasted)

Fight Night Feast: {clockwise from top L} Little Caesar’s Pretzel Pizza from yours truly * fruit w/chocolate fondue made by yours truly (Nutella & Philadelphia Cream Cheese) * veggies w/Ranch dressing * slider sandwiches w/Dijon mustard, turkey & cheese (either Swiss or Munster)

Portion control: Lisa sliced the pizza into smaller pieces, so more could be up for grabs!

These slider sandwiches were a hit! Hands down: they scored a touchdown @ this table!

Fun fact: Did you know that you burn more calories than you consume when you munch on celery due to the crunch? Challenge accepted!

After the fruit was gone, a fellow cat mama & I turned to the carrots to dip into the chocolate!

Post-Fight: Rice Noodles w/meatballs ~ looks like this yummy bowl is Lisa‘s version of Pho!

Pre-Game: My Ramen w/Salsa + P.I. Cheese on Toast

Yes’sir, I AM the Ranch B*tch: from my salad to pizza (Supreme from the Hut)

Almond Joy Pie: filled w/Nutella but bittersweet due to the Seahawks’ SB loss

My Nanay satisfied my chili craving with this Super Bowl Southwestern-Style Chili Bowl! Maraming Salamat Po, Mommy Aya! Ma sarap!

Add cheese to the mix!

Dallop of Daisy: Add sour cream to the mix!

Add avocado to the mix!

Spoon ready to scoop ~ so ladle it on to lick!

Let’s double-dip those chips!

My mom went happy on kale, both in the chili & in these chips baked in EVOO + in this green drink complete con más avocado!

Again, Context Media Health has been on point, as if it’s been reading my mind ~ this time, about Black Beans & Avocados!

Lately, I’ve been in conference calls with doctoral graduates for tips on getting on the grind and finishing our respective terminal degrees. Here are some of the paraphrased pieces of profound advice that they imparted to this candidate, yours truly, as I push through my dissertation:
Dr. Alex
- You’ll graduate in †GOD†‘s time.
- If †GOD† led you this far, He won’t leave you at this point.
Dr. Díaz*
- It takes ♥love♥ and commitment because it is a labor of ♥love♥.
- Treat your dissertation as your job by putting in your hours and ♥love♥ what you do.
*Also, my aforementioned colleague — with whom I used to teach in South Texas who always has been a brilliant mastermind and now has his book on the way (about the border, around the corner) — who is a fellow, active Catholic, who pointed out that we all have our †cross† to bear, established this group for St. Joseph the Worker …

… to whom he would pray everyday before writing his dissertation.

Dr. Toya
- Treat your dissertation as your final project: the last assignment that you need to graduate.

- Write an affirmation …

… and place it on your bathroom mirror…

… or refrigerator.

I also posted it on my desk!

I’m ♥lovin’♥ it!

Constant reminders may be just the key to my Ph.D. to become Dr. D (as I pop these choco Coffeebeats that may not be the best bet for my teeth)!

I go BANANAS for apples and coconut… for my hair!
Let’s feed our body, from the inside out.
As I’ve told you in my debut Beauty Tuesday Review, I prefer products that stimulate the senses, including scent!
Therefore, ridding of itch and irritation doesn’t have to smell like chemicals!
Before I lather up, I apply this to my hair…
While I say the Pretty Fit Way must practiced from the inside out, coconut oil
makes a great alternative in lieu of more fattening oils ~ WIMK
More Mane Management Tips from root to tip:
- Massage your head ~ to stimulate scalp for hair growth, as well as to soothe the brain for headache prevention (I swear by these, in particular from my student, a licensed massage therapist)
- Treat wet hair gently ~ no harsh brushing that would lead it to damage (I showed my shower combs in last week’s Beauty Tuesday segment)
- DON’T wash hair every single day ~ frequent washing can strip your hair from its natural oils
- DO wash hair after extended exposure outdoors ~ for allergy prevention (from mold and other muck in the air)
- Use Dry or Waterless Shampoo when water’s not available ~ to keep hair fresh (like my recommendation in my Beauty Tuesday debut)

I had a beautiful hair day on this Sunday fun day ~ well, more like this whole weekend, actually!
First, I started with braiding my hair and pinning it up. Like my new Coach Gabrielle glasses?

[Dress by Peter Pilotto-Target Collaboration]
Then, when I went to church this morning, I took my hair down… & voila! Bouncy curls is where it’s @ (spritz mane w/holding spray or volumizing mousse, if desired).

Now I know that this isn’t a brand-spankin’ new hair tip, but I just wanted to share 1 way of how a great hair day can lead into the next bombshell hair day =D
